An equestrian sport, polo is one of the oldest, fastest and most dangerous sports on earth, seen as an exclusive world of luxury and privilege. This sport film goes behind the scenes to tell the true story of how Santiago Torres left home, school and family behind to become a polo player.
Santiago Torres' nomadic journey takes him from the deserts of California to Argentina, Florida, New York and Mexico. Behind thrilling sports action is an inspiring and moving human story that provides proof of the American Dream: an immigrant family overcoming tremendous odds to create success of their life in America.
Director Nathaniel McCullagh states that the documentary is "really a coming-of-age story about a boy fulfilling his dreams, and polo is just the vehicle." For a year, McCullagh followed Santiago around the polo game circuit: Wellington, the Hamptons, Argentina, Mexico, and their home base in Santa Barbara, California. The equestrian sport film features several of the world's best polo players, including Adolfo Cambiaso, Mariano Aguerre, and Nacho Figueras, the face of Ralph Lauren.
