Berea Food and Restaurant Coverage Gets National Exposure Online at Examiner.com
Examiner.com reporter in Berea to provide national coverage of local food and restaurant news.
- Lexington, KY (1888PressRelease) July 01, 2010 - Berea, Kentucky, already known for being the home of Berea College, the historical Boone Tavern, and a diverse community of artisans and craftsmen, is now becoming famous for something else - their food. Freelance author, Donna Anderson, who recently returned to take up residence in this quaint, little town, has been given the assignment of Berea Food Examiner for the nationally popular website, Examiner.com.
"I'm still unpacking and don't even have a desk yet but I'm thrilled to be back in Berea and I'm especially excited to be able to get the news about Bereans and their unique recipes and cooking ideas out to the world!"
Examiner.com, a 2-year old website that recently passed it's one millionth article milestone, is a national, community driven content site. They have over 33,000 content contributors, known as Examiners, located across the United States, each reporting on news of local interest in their own areas of expertise.
And Anderson is certainly an expert in the food area. In 2003 she was the Pastry Chef responsible for designing the dessert menu at the Kentucky Artisan Center. At the same time she was the Pastry Chef for the Boone Tavern and also provided specialty desserts for visiting dignitaries to Berea College.
"This is a great opportunity for me and a great opportunity to spread the word about Berea. I'll certainly be publishing recipes but there are some important food related topics I'll be covering as well. For example, I recently published a series of articles regarding the Berea Chicken Brigade and their attempts to overturn the ordinance banning backyard chickens within the city limits. And I have an ongoing series covering the Berea Farmer's Market."
Anderson will be covering any topic that has to do with Berea and food - from local growers to local restaurants, diners and chefs, to local markets and produce stands. She invites Bereans - whether local or otherwise - to contact her with old family recipes and their history, too.
"Examiner.com is a national website with content aimed at individual communities. And no matter where you are in the world, you can access the Berea information. Wouldn't it be great if your family members, living in other parts of the country, could see your name and your Peach Cobbler recipe, right there on the internet? And the exposure for our local restaurants, chefs and food businesses will be great, too."
