At IMTS 2016, BENZ tooling demonstrations will include the LinA broaching system, Solidifix Modular Tool Changing System, BENZ CAPTO, and multiple angle heads.
We think IMTS attendees will benefit from seeing how these tools are engineered to solve manufacturing problems, increase production efficiency and reduce setup time and costs.
Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, NC-SC (1888PressRelease) May 21, 2016 - BENZ Inc. will present several tooling systems during IMTS 2016 (International Manufacturing Technology Show), September 12-17 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Showing in Booth W-2445, BENZ will feature its LinA broaching tools, crown gear technology for heavy-duty machining, adjustable angle heads for machining difficult angles, and production-enhancing modular quick-change tools.
BENZ engineers its tooling systems in Germany, with sales and service functions in the United States and Canada based at company headquarters in Hickory, N.C.
"We are very excited about demonstrating our tooling capabilities during IMTS," said John Roasa, national sales manager for the BENZ Inc. metal division. "We think IMTS attendees will benefit from seeing how these tools are engineered to solve manufacturing problems, increase production efficiency and reduce setup time and costs."
Roasa explained that the BENZ LinA broaching system changes the rotary motion of the live tool turret into a linear motion for broach and spline machining on turning centers. LinA radial and axial models are available in both long- and short-stroke versions. "The LinA makes manufacturing I.D. and O.D. profiles extremely fast, easy and less abusive to the turning center," he said.
The BENZ Solidfix® Modular Tool Changing System lets users change tools quickly by using adapters that hold a variety of tools instead of requiring a labor-intensive manual tool change or adding an expensive automatic tool changer. This proprietary, patented BENZ Solidfix® modular quick-change system allows the user to preset tools for precise, repeatable cuts, with tool changes in 15 seconds.
Instead of traveling to a tool-changer rack, the Solidfix® spindle can be programmed to move to a home position where the operator can quickly change tools and resume manufacturing. This helps reduce setup time by 90% and enables users to produce additional parts every day. Rigid, compact, balanced design also provides large multi-surface contact with high-torque and high-speed performance.
The BENZ CAPTO™ system performs the same basic functions as the BENZ Solidfix® Modular Tool Changing System. CAPTO™ is a little more heavy-duty and provides a similar 15-second tool change with industry standard adapters available from multiple sources.
BENZ adjustable angle heads do the work of multiple tooling heads and feature a worm gear that allows fast and easy angular adjustments. Once in place, the worm gear helps to prevent the angle from being knocked out of position. Available in custom sizes from small to large, they are ideal for general manufacturing and short-run production requiring frequent angle changes. Each adjustable angle head comes with a one-year warranty.
The most powerful angle heads on the market easily accommodate large-scale machining which require higher torque requirements. The crown gear design produces less friction and heat generation while providing more torque. BENZ angle heads are available with one or two output spindles, a variety of body styles such as offset, offset narrow and adjustable angle heads. BENZ angle heads feature lighter aluminum housings accommodate most automatic tool changer applications. They also may be purchased with Solidfix® Modular Quick Change System to speed production flow and facilitate multiple tool applications reducing the need for multiple heads.
