- Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN (1888PressRelease) July 25, 2013 - Cincinnati Bengals standout Michael Johnson went beyond bringing his annual football and cheer camp to his hometown. Just before returning to the Bengals camp for pre-season practice, the avid proponent of education has sponsored and facilitated, through his MJ93 Fund organization, a Microsoft Office fundamentals course to teach area students the basics of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
While Johnson prepares to physically and mentally train for the upcoming season, he gives those interested the opportunity to train in class Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 8am - 11am, for 90 days. Johnson's goal is that upon completion participants will be fully equipped to take the A+ Certification exam for job preparation.
Johnson dedicates his last moments before returning to camp, next week, to deliver opportunities to those who need it. He believes that all people should have the same opportunity to thrive no matter their lot in life. "Kids have no control over their environment, who their parents are or where they come from," says Johnson. "There is an immense need for training and development in Selma which is one of the reasons for high unemployment. There are a plethora of great jobs available, however many people lack all of the qualifications, that's where these Microsoft classes come in."
The popular defensive end took it upon himself to find some of the best in the business to give participants of this program everything that they need to succeed. The class is taught by certified Microsoft Office advisor Rufus Ford, General Manager of Hampton Inn in Selma and a huge supporter of Michael. Ford brings years of teaching experience. There will be special guest instructors and other speakers whom Johnson believes will be beneficial in preparing students for the demanding work force.
The class is free, however students must pay $100 for the certification exam. A laptop computer with XP, and Windows 7 or 8 is required for the class, but students who do not have one are able to check one out.
