(1888PressRelease) April 21, 2011 - Roland White Fiddler from Central Oregon won the 2011 Senior Old Time Fiddling Division for the second year in a row. The Oregon Old Time Fiddling Championships are held each year at Chemekata Community College, featuring fiddlers of all ages from Pee Wee's to Senior Senior's throughout the State of Oregon.
By winning the Oregon State Contest he is a Certified Champion by the National Oldtime Fiddlers Association and is invited to enter the National Fiddle Championships and Certified Entertainment Showcase held in June of each year in Weiser Idaho.
Roland is a Central Oregon Fiddler on the faculty at Bend's Cascade School of Music. He hosts Fiddlplay dot com a website promoting live music in Central Oregon and Fiddle Music Resources for fiddlers and students. On almost any Sunday afternoon Oregon Old Time Fiddlers play all over the state and gather to play old time fiddle music at public jam sessions somewhere in Oregon. You can find them at county fairs, Community Centers and events, ready to provide an afternoon's entertainment and promoting their mission which is:
"To promote, preserve and perpetuate Old Time Fiddling and Old Time music. To encourage everyone, especially young people, to play the fiddle and appreciate Old Time Fiddling and Old Time music. To provide regular times and places to meet to play this kind of music".
Roland just returned from the 43rd Annual NW Regional Fiddle Championships in Spokane WA where he placed 4th in the Senior Division with fiddlers attending from 9 NW States and Canada.
