Ben Weitsman of Syracuse to Hold Customer and Community Appreciation Day Saturday, November 6
On November 6, 2010, Adam Weitsman, President of Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman & Son, will host a Customer and Community Appreciation Day at the new Ben Weitsman of Syracuse scrap metal facility. The event is the company's way of showing gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has contributed to its success.
- (1888PressRelease) November 01, 2010 - Syracuse, NY - Today Adam Weitsman, president of Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman & Son invited all company customers and area residents and businesses to the Customer and Community Appreciation Day at the new Ben Weitsman of Syracuse scrap metal facility. The event happens on Saturday, November 6 from 7 AM to 2 PM, at 333 Bridge Street, Solvay, New York.
In making the announcement Weitsman said, "Since we acquired the Matlow Company here in Solvay it's our small way of saying thanks to our loyal customers and the people of Syracuse. We have been warmly welcomed here and we genuinely appreciate it."
The event will be hosted in a large tent in the scrap yard and will feature a luncheon from 10 AM to 2 PM catered by the famous Dinosaur Barbeque restaurant of Syracuse. Four radio stations will broadcast live remotes from the celebration offering prizes to call-in listeners and attendees. WAQX, 95.7 FM will play mainstream rock, WKRL 100.9 FM also known as "K-Rock," will be there, WSEM 92.1 FM will provide good time rock 'n roll from the 60s and 70s and WOLF, 105.1 FM will make county music fans happy. John Maczko, TV and feature film actor who starred in Kiss of the Dragon and spokesperson for Ben Weitsman's popular "Metal" radio commercials will be there to greet attendees. Other surprises are planned for the event.
Ben Weitsman will have a catalytic converter technical specialist on hand to answer questions, do appraisals and pay special premium prices for catalytic converters brought in only on that day.
"You don't have to bring scrap to attend, but we welcome all types of scrap metal and will pay an extra bonus that day on top of our already high prices, and as always pay the same day. Residents are encouraged to bring in any amount of any kind of scrap metal to earn extra cash. This is also an opportunity for municipal, commercial and industrial recyclers to see our facility, meet our people and find out why we offer more than anyone in the area," Weitsman added. The Syracuse facility will be open to receive metals from 7 AM to 2 PM.
In December 2009, Upstate Shredding acquired Matlow Company, Inc. of Solvay, New York in an all cash transaction to become Ben Weitsman of Syracuse. Matlow had been serving the Syracuse area scrap metal market for over 90 years. The Company is in the process renovating the facility to state-of-the-art industrial standards. In January, the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce presented Upstate with the annual award as Business of the Year.
