The Self Improvement Show will host Eric Putnam, The Behave Coach, on Thursday, December 6, 2010 to talk about the tools available to parents and teachers to help them deal with "over-the-top behavior of children.
- (1888PressRelease) December 10, 2010 - Scottsdale, AZ - The Self Improvement Show will feature Eric Putnam, founder of Independence Behavioral Coaching, who will discuss helping parents and teachers deal with children's undesirable and often destructive behavior. He has developed a set of tools to help them be successful in their efforts to coach kids. Eric States, "If parents and teachers had the right tools to deal with over-the-top behavior, child abuse could be cut down significantly because their stress level would be reduced to a manageable level and they could more effectively deal with the unwanted behavior."
Eric Putnam, MA, LAC, received his M.A. in Applied Sociology from Northern Arizona University in 1994 and a M.A. in Professional Counseling from Ottawa University in 2004. He was the Clinical Director of CPS Crisis Stabilization Services at TERROS, INC for almost five years working with highly abused and neglected children exhibiting severely destructive behaviors.
In over a decade working with children, families and teachers, he has worked with a wide range of behavior problems including some of the most severe behavioral reactions from children who have been severely abused and neglected. Through the years, Eric has recognized a gradual shift in mental health services from dysfunction oriented to one of prevention. While a focus on prevention is one moving in the right direction, Eric supports a growing movement of yet another needed shift in service focus and delivery known as positive psychology.
Independence Behavioral Coaching was created to fill the needs of a growing number of families and teachers for positive support services provided directly in the home and/or at school directly where difficult behaviors are occurring. Behavioral coaching focuses on learning, performance efficiency and overall growth of the child and family. The behavioral coach gathers information about the child such as temperament, potential barriers within the environment and on specific targeted behaviors that are causing the child to struggle at home, in the school and/or in certain social situations.
When not working, Eric enjoys spending time with his wife, Tara, daughters Ashlyn and Makenna, and son, Drew. Eric enjoys playing with his children and eating sushi with his wife and most of all sometimes just being silly. You can see his blog at http://www.behavecoach.com.

The Self Improvement Show, like the blog, was created because almost everyone wants to be better, do better, and achieve more. All real change comes from within but many of us don't know where to find the information or guidance we need to make the changes that bring about the improvement. And many of us don't know how to work "within."
The Self Improvement Show will address who you are, why you're here on this planet, how to go within, how to come to know what you believe and why. Irene States, "Our guests tell their stories about what worked for them and can give you direction for what might work for you." The Self Improvement Show is broadcast live every Thursday at 12 Noon Pacific Time on the World Talk Radio Variety Channel. http://www.voiceamerica.com/worldtalkradio/vshow.aspx?sid=1822
