Begade launches musician collaboration on an iPhone using Cloud Computing
Revolutionary new system combines scalable cloud computing with portable devices so that musicians from around the globe can share and mix songs in development. Begade is a mobile music creation and collaboration application for the iPhone.
- San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) October 12, 2010 - In a rolling thunder release, Begade initially demonstrated the product at BillBoard Mobile Music Live! in San Francisco on 5 October 2010. The Begade music cloud has a powerful mixer so that musicians can work on the road to make musical stems. A stem is a single sound such as a guitar or a vocal which combine into a song. Musicians can listen to and modify a mix from their iPhone or iPad. Additionally, the Begade app has an integrated recorder so they can play into the microphone and optionally plug an instrument directly into their iPhone or iPad for use as a high quality portable studio. Begade is compatible with popular mixing tools such as ProTools, Cubase and Audacity and can be used as a standalone app or in conjunction with these other tools for collaboration and mixing.
Fully scalable and safe for musicians to use
Begade developed the system using open source technology and proprietary code. To ensure that the stems musicians share are always available and are securely stored, Begade turned to RackSpace (NYSE:RAX) for the cloud computing resources. The RackSpace system is backed up around the clock with redundant data centers around the planet.
"As a musician, one of my key concerns was the safety of the music content contributed said Chase Nutter, Director of Business Development for Begade, "Our permission system is powerful and easy to use and with the combination of RackSpace services we are confident that musicians can share with each other safely."
Available Immediately
The app is immediately available in the Apple AppStore and is free. So that musicians can get started immediately, the app installs with four projects that have royalty free content and an open project for generating new content. Musicians have an entire month to test out Begade before getting a subscription to the service.
