Becky's Fund and Eric Finn Custom Clothiers Present the Third Annual "WALK THIS WAY"
Walk this Way 2011 is a dramatic evening designed around fashion to highlight three amazing stories describing the cycles of domestic violence in a unique theatrical presentation. Funds raised at this year's Walk This Way will go towards the launch of our new, revolutionary social and mobile platform, endDV.
- Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) October 21, 2011 - Becky's Fund and Eric Finn Custom Clothiers announce the Third Annual "Walk This Way" fashion event on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, from 6:30 pm until 10:00 pm at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, located at 1301 Constitution Avenue, Northwest in Washington, DC. Becky's Fund is a nonprofit organization committed to the prevention of domestic and dating violence by fostering awareness, encouraging advocacy among peers, promoting activism through outreach programs, and providing support for victims. Together men and women will Walk this Way to end domestic and dating violence.
Lifetime supporters and sponsors, Eric Finn Custom Clothiers will debut their tailored menswear and Maggie Norris Couture will be the headlining women's designer. Each year professional male athletes have walked the runway to take a stand against domestic and dating violence. This year the 2011 models will include Washington Redskins Brian Orakpo, Anthony Armstrong, DeAngelo Hall, DC United's Ben Olsen, Washington Capitals Karl Alzner, John Carlson, former Redskins Gary Clark, and former New York Jets John Booty. Makeup artist for First Lady Michelle Obama, Carl Ray, and the renowned Salon Daniel will be providing services for the models.
Co-hosted by Comcast Sportsnet's Julie Donaldson and FOX 5 morning show's Steve Chenevey, guests will enjoy the fashion event as it highlights three eras that describe the cycle of domestic and dating violence in a unique theatrical presentation. Proceeds will assist in the creation of a revolutionary social and mobile platform called endDV, a technology program with resources assisting victims and those who want to support victims in real-time. Tickets can be purchased online and range from $125 to $200. The $125 tickets will grant patrons: general admission, open bar, and hors d'oeuvres. Domestic violence currently impacts one in every three women in their lifetimes and can happen to anyone regardless of age, race, or socioeconomic status. Becky's Fund focuses on preventing domestic and dating abuse by educating and empowering people from all stations in life. Past community events and programs include an annual "Domestic Violence Awareness Day" with the Washington Nationals Baseball Club at Nationals Park, an annual Anti-Domestic Violence Men's March called "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes," Young Men's Mentorship and "Becoming Your Own Heroine" Healthy Relationships workshops for young women, including the Girl Scouts of America in the D.C. metro area.
