Beardology Records Signs Electronic Music / Folk Musician Chris McGarry To 8 Album Deal
Electronic music producer and folk singer Chris McGarry signs on to Beardology Records to release his 8 album masterwork series entitled "Retrospective" which features heavily influences of shoegaze, ambient music, folk singer/songwriter, and general experimental music.
- (1888PressRelease) October 12, 2010 - Austin, TX - Chris McGarry, long time multi-instrumentalist and experimental music creator has signed to Beardology Records ( http://www.BeardologyRecords.com ) to release his 10 year complete retrospective series of music, aptly titled "Retrospective." This 8 disc series begins with "Retrospective 1" ( http://www.beardologyrecords.com/brd018.php ) which attempts to bridge the gap between McGarry's seemingly divergent approaches to musicianship. Sometimes electronic based, other times acoustic, and still other times it features an expert blend of these styles. Folk and experimental electronic tunes fuse together in creative ways inside the brain of McGarry.
"It's just some stuff that I've been working on for a decade," McGarry says modestly.
"We're really thrilled to be working with Chris McGarry," says Beardology Records co-founder, Daniel Sanford. "I've known Chris for a long time and he has this really authentic style that he brings to the table. He really puts himself and his soul into his music."
Chris McGarry joins a roster of musicians on Beardology Records from across the country and around the world, each developing music in a wide variety of styles. Beardology Records has been in the business of distributing music for free to its listeners since 2006. In the 4 years of their run, they've put forth 18 releases (12 of which have been released in the last 12 months) that span genres from IDM, Shoegaze, Post Rock, Drill N Bass, Ambient, Mashups, Hip Hop, and now McGarry's release infuses folk elements into the Beardology line up. After spending time building a following, they've begun a program to release at least one new album every month.
This year also marked the first year of the Beardology Records Artist Sampler, which features 3 of McGarry's songs. "The sampler started out as a way to introduce new potential fans to our ever increasing back catalog of music," says Sanford. "It quickly became apparent to us that the more albums we released, the more we might make our fans' heads spin with the sheer volume of free music that we're giving away. This way fans can listen to a single album of material and hopefully they'll be inclined to dig deeper into our back catalog if they hear a few songs that they like."
