Beach Runway: Swimwear Label Muther Of All Things Launch Summer 2011-12 Range
Australian Brand Muther Of All Things Releases Stunning Day to Dark Summer Swimwear Collection.
- (1888PressRelease) October 07, 2011 - Byron Bay, Australia - Boned corsets, capped sleeve leotards, and plunging V necklines? It's the high-fashion-meets-beach-nomad style of emerging Australian swimwear label Muther Of All Things. MOAT launched their hotly anticipated Summer 2011-2012 range on October 1st, 2011.
Fresh on the heels of their much-lauded 2010 debut, MOAT's latest range features multiple designs that can be worn in the day as well as after dark.
Statement pieces include the Lenny II, a long sleeve leotard surfsuit made to withstand the rigors of the ocean, yet graceful enough to wear dining out. Or the eye-catching Corvet, a structured and boned corset-style two piece that continues MOAT's signature surf-meets-couture look, ensuring effortless transitions from the beach to the bar.
Across the range MOAT proves function and fashion doesn't need to be mutually exclusive. "We wanted to create a swim and surf label with a fresh twist; beautiful pieces made by women for women seeking something stylish and functional," explains MOAT co-founder, Marisa Sidoti. Marisa formed MOAT with longtime friend Joceline Godfrey, and the duo claim Byron Bay's surf bohemian lifestyle provided the catalyst for MOAT's inception. "We'd both just started to get into surfing, and straight away saw our niche. With so many ladies out there these days, we knew we were bound to make some of them happy," Sidoti said.
The results are far from your regular surfwear fare - think retro futurism crossed with boho and add a dash of runway chic - yet MOAT still manages to embody the aspirational aspects of the surf lifestyle as well; vital, free and uninhibited.
Although only into their second year of operation, its MOAT's knack for creating surf wear juxtaposed with fashion forward sensibilities that's brought the label global attention. MOAT has featured in internationally revered fashion blogs like Oracle Fox and Bikini Bird, and the musical queen of futuristic fashion, Grace Jones, was photographed sporting one of MOAT's wetsuit jackets. Wess Carr's latest film clip, Been a Long Time, features multiple MOAT pieces, while Connie Mitchell, lead singer of Sneaky Sound System, scored a Groupie Magazine cover shot in a Muther of All Things Tommy sleeveless springsuit.
Continuing the brand's music connection, MOAT's 2012 wetsuit range will be released for Second Summer, and a MOAT film clip will accompany the launch featuring the musical talents of emerging artist Mylee Grace and her husband, Goons of Doom's Ozzie Wright. The duo provided the soundtrack for MOAT's first short film, and were a natural collaboration choice given that Ozzie and Mylee both surf, create art and music, and ooze laidback style. It will be MOAT's third short film. "Each Muther Of All Things film gives the brand an identity; it shows the audience what we feel, what we like and illuminates a little bit about our lifestyle. It's also a great way to see the product in action - how it fits and moves and functions, which is a very important aspect," said Sidoti.
Designed and made in Australia, the label prides itself on the finer touches and its overall craftsmanship and quality, making MOAT the perfect beach custume de rigueur for surfers and fashionistas alike. "We create all of our prints, and use the best quality lycras. We also make wet suits from Smooth Skin Neoprene to give them a super sexy look," Sidoti said. The Muther Of All Things creative team is also excited about the technologically advanced fabrics that they've sourced this season. "This year's fabrics have improved flex and durability. It's enabled us to come up with a few new concepts and create something that all women can be a part of," Sidoti said.
Muther Of All Things Summer 2011-12 will be available in select retail stores early October, as well as online via http://www.mutherofallthings.com
