BDR v2.1 BETA is packed with major feature updates that makes backup speeds 5X time faster. With the addition of Hyper-V CBT and download as VHDx options in BDR2.1 BETA, customer experience is elevated to a new level.
Hyper-V CBT:
This feature lets you backup the changes made in a VM loaded on a HYper-V instance via instant boot. It keeps track of all changes made on a VM by change block tracking (CBT) on mounted disks and these backed up changes will get stored separately in the backup location.
Download as VHDx and Support for larger disks size:
BDR v2.1 BETA now extends support to backup disks of size more than 2TB and GPT disks. In order get these servers downloaded for later use, native VHD files can only support disks of size upto 2TB and for extended disk size VHDx file format is used which supports downloading disks of size up to 64TB. Also, VHDx has extensive security to writing files than VHD file.
VMWare Disk Level Recovery:
This feature lets users to proceed with disk level restore to VMs rather recovering an entire VM. The restore process can be done on the same VM machine or to a different VM as well.
