- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) December 17, 2010 - Bayer CropScience (http://www.bayercropscience.com), one of the world's top innovative crop science companies in the areas of crop protection, non-agricultural pest control, seeds and traits, has announced the release of a podcast discussing their national award-winning program, Making Science Make Sense (MSMS), that advances science literacy through hands-on, inquiry-based science learning, employee volunteerism and public education. In the podcast, Bayer CropScience employees and MSMS volunteers Bruce Young and Pam Stewart discuss how the company is serving the Triangle community and schools with the program. The podcast is available for download at http://bit.ly/esmoiY.
In November Bayer CropScience celebrated the 15th anniversary of the program. MSMS worked with approximately 1,200 students in 2010 alone with the help of 30 core volunteers from the company. Bayer CropScience works with the Durham Performance Learning Center (DPLC) to develop science curriculums and teach hands-on labs, and its employees teach classes at Passage Home summer camp program at the Raleigh Safety & Community Club.
The MSMS volunteers work with Bayer partner schools and school districts to introduce students and teachers to scientific experimentation and discovery in and outside classrooms. MSMS has introduced tens of thousands of primary and secondary school students to National Science Education Standards established by the National Research Council.
