Basketball Legends To Be Honored During Black History Month at the Church of Scientology
Black legends from the early years of basketball will be honored during a special ceremony and week-long exhibit at the Church of Scientology in Nashville next February.
- (1888PressRelease) July 07, 2014 - In a special ceremony during Black History Month, players from the early years of basketball will be honored by the Black Legends of Professional Basketball Foundation. There will be food and entertainment as well as a look at the history and future of basketball in Nashville.
The ceremony will be hosted by the Church of Scientology in a joint partnership with Dr. John Kline - founder of the Black Legends of Professional Basketball Foundation. Dr. John Kline has dedicated his life to improving the health and welfare of basketball players. He found a common thread of compassion with the Church of Scientology and their programs for social betterment. Dr. Kline says, "Basketball is such an important part of America and my own life. My hope is to help youngsters and current players see their dreams come true. The history of American basketball teaches many lessons about how to succeed and win the game, particularly for blacks."
There will be a week-long exhibit with pamphlets, posters and photos on display of the early years of basketball (1900-1960), featuring the Harlem Globetrotters and the New York Rens. This exhibit will be open to the public for the first week in February in 2015 to open Black History Month celebrations.
