BASF at Agrifood Conference 2011 in Singapore
BASF presents its "Sustainability, Eco-efficiency, and Traceability" program (S.E.T.) for sustainable nutrition at this year's Agrifood Conference in Singapore, on July 4 and 5. S.E.T. is an initiative launched by BASF which helps its customers in the nutrition industry to produce more sustainable food.
- (1888PressRelease) July 06, 2011 - Sustainable nutrition for the world's growing population is one of BASF's major focuses for the years ahead. BASF's S .E.T. program is at the vanguard of sustainable nutrition, addressing more than carbon footprint, energy efficiency and water management. It reflects the BASF view of sustainability, taking “the full picture” including environmental, economical and social aspects into consideration. A life-cycle approach, eco-efficiency analysis and traceability along the value chain (not only within BASF) all the way to the consumer products are important for BASF and the basis for sound and convincing sustainability.
On July 5, Cristian Barcan, Global S.E.T. Manager for BASF, will deliver a keynote lecture entitled " Creating, Branding, and Marketing More Sustainable Goods". "The main goal of S.E.T. is to help our customers as they move forward on their sustainability journeys," says Barcan. "The three core values of S.E.T. – sustainability, eco-efficiency and traceability – safeguard our future and let us utilize the earth's resources in the most ecological and economical way possible, in addition to rendering the value chain transparent."
All nutrition industries along the value chain, from feed ingredient suppliers to integrators to livestock producers all the way to meat/ milk/ fish/ egg distributors and brand owners, can use S.E.T. to optimize the sustainability of their products, regardless of what their starting point in sustainability efforts may be.
In addition, S.E.T. creates transparency for the consumer through better and faster traceability along the value chain. This creates consumer trust and promotes better nutrition today and in the future.
With S.E.T.'s multi-faceted advantages, the nutrition industry can make high-quality sustainable goods and build brand affinity with consumers. S.E.T. thus helps differentiate from others in the value chain.
As the world's leading supplier of feed additives and food ingredients, BASF delivers innovative products and marketing solutions that address consumer well-being, health and animal welfare with a competitive edge.
The two-day conference Agrifoods is organized by Asian Agribusiness Media Pte Ltd and gathers nutrition industry leaders to share experiences and to discuss and strategize the future of nutrition. This year, BASF is platinum sponsor of the Agrifood Conference.
