Swiss and Los Angeles-based artists, extremely diverse in their works genre and seriously established in the art world, will be present. Among them are artists Lucinda Luvaas, Daniel Maltzman, Marco Pittori and Judy Zimbert - all newly exhibiting with Artspace Warehouse. The big opening includes a special guided tour of the artworks by curator Claudia Deutsch and the artists at 5:30pm. The event announces itself to be a fantastic opportunity to meet some of the most talented contemporary artists whose passionate paintings makes them worth collecting.
Featuring artists: Marco Pittori (Basel) and Los Angeles-based Daniel Maltzman and Judy Zimbert, as well as new works by Ashleigh Sumner, Lucinda Luvaas and others.
An artist for over 15 years, Daniel Maltzman's work draws from contemporary influences in his use of color and design but incorporates a pop-culture bent all his own with his use of high-impact shadow images and faces. Maltzman's body of work has drawn the attention of global savvy art collectors, including Lee Iacocca, Steve Tisch, The Galen Center, Eugenio Lopez (the Jumex Collection), and many others. He is described as "one of those quite rare 'breakthrough' artists who is in the process of defining a new vision, a new paradigm, in which you are bringing astute references from the past into a dynamic sensibility of the present, to create a measure of elegance and beauty that I believe has been missing from contemporary art for much too long." Continually catching the eye of top Hollywood producers, his pieces are often featured in film and television.
Famed Swiss pop-artist Marco Pittori has been made celebre by his artworks of California palm streets and topless girls dancing around swimming pools. Centered on different pressure technologies his starting points are photo subjects, that he then saturates with colours, hence reducing it's forms to the essential. California draws Pittori in often, where he draws inspiration from LA's palm tree lined streets, its beaches and the city's life beat. Marco's work has been shown worldwide in addition to reputable international art fairs, as Art Basel. He is constantly on the move and his works are viewed as rare treasure troves. Great opportunity to nab a collector piece on opening night!
Judy Zimbert, a former radio and television personality, has taken her energies to channel fully the painting dream. A longtime student of chiaroscuro master, David Leffel in New Mexico, she's found her artistic painting voice in a style that infuses German expressionism with the refreshment of contemporary images. She is exhibited throughout the US at prestigious galleries and group shows. On a weekly basis she hosts a salon with three other professional artists called TRIBE and has run an atelier in her studio for young adults.
Lucinda Luvaas has been defined by critic Nancy Kapitanoff of Los Angeles Times as: "You seldom get an artist who's both prolific and very attentive to all the details in her work."
Ms Luvaas' artwork combines oil painting, acrylic, relief techniques, drawings, using graphite, ink pens, prismacolor pencils and oilbars, video, and photography. She has an insatiable curiosity about materials and always looks for new ways to create a unique visual interpretation of the world. Luvaas has no interest in recording exactly what she sees, but rather wants to convey the impressions of what she sees, wanting to craft the mood and feeling of a scene or event.
