Bangor Federal Celebrates New Branch and 60th Anniversary
Bangor Federal is celebrating both the opening of its new branch at 10 Venture Way and its 60th anniversary with the communities it serves.
- Bangor, ME (1888PressRelease) July 15, 2016 - On Wednesday, July 13th, Bangor Federal celebrated the grand opening of its full service branch at 10 Venture Way. The day began with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by tours of the new facility, giveaways, and lunch. In the evening, the Credit Union partnered with the local young professionals' networking group, Fusion:Bangor, to hold a reception with a performance by local band, The Rotating Taps. These events were just the beginning of a month-long celebration of both the opening of the new branch and the Credit Union's 60th anniversary.
"It is with great excitement that we celebrate the opening of our new branch and anniversary," says Steve Clark, President of Bangor Federal Credit Union.
Bangor Federal was chartered in 1956 to serve the members of St. John's Church. The credit union expanded its membership to all Bangor residents in 1972, and the first branch opened on Harlow Street in 1974. Although that location has since closed, the credit union now has three branches and serves anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Hancock, Waldo, and Penobscot counties.
Bangor Federal is inviting the community to join in on the grand opening festivities. For its littlest members, the credit union will be holding a carnival day on Friday, July 22nd. All children who attend will enjoy goodie bags, face painting, ice cream, and a surprise visit from Monty Moose. During the week of July 25th, Bangor Federal will be holding a food drive to benefit Ending Hunger in Maine. This charity and Fusion:Bangor are just two of the nonprofits that Bangor Federal supports, as they regularly sponsor local events and give to various charities.
The final week of the celebration will be devoted to the state of Maine with prizes including gift cards for local favorites like Gifford's Ice Cream, L.L Bean, McLaughlin's Seafood, and the Growler Bus. Friday, August 12th will wrap up the celebration with a live broadcast on local radio station, Z107.3, and another drawing for a kayak from Old Town Canoe.
In addition to these free events for the community, Bangor Federal is offering a special promotion for new and current members. From now until August 12th, anyone who opens a Full Circle Checking Account will be entered into a drawing for $1,000 cash to be held on the final day of the promotion. Other offers, including a low interest auto loan and 10,000 reward points on a new Our Best Rewards Visa credit card, can be found on the credit union's website at bangorfederal.com/welcome.
