Babson MBA Jon Feinman, Founder of Inner City Weightlifting, Honored by Cabot Creamery Cooperative
Receives 'Cabot Community Celebrity Award' for work-reducing violence and promoting achievement among urban youth.
- (1888PressRelease) November 01, 2013 - Jon Feinman, M' 10, is being recognized for his selfless volunteerism with Inner City Weightlifting byCabot® Creamery Cooperative, the New England and upstate New York farm-family owned dairy cooperative widely known as the maker of the "World's Best Cheddar."
Feinman established Inner City Weightlifting after receiving his Babson MBA, to reduce violence and promote professional, personal and academic achievement among urban youth. Inner City Weightlifting works with young people at the highest risk for violence in order to reduce youth violence by getting its students off the streets and into the gym, where they are empowered with the confidence and positive support needed to say no to violence and yes to opportunity.
Feinman and a guest will join more than 40 other altruistic individuals and their guests on an all-expense-paid Southern Caribbean cruise honoring them for the volunteer work they do in their communities. He will join honorees from across the country on the Cabot Celebrity Cruise, as well as Cabot staff and special honorees selected from program partners AARP Create the Good and Points of Light, on the six-day, seven-night excursion. Local radio stations in more than 20 markets chose some of this year's "Community Celebrities," while others were recognized from recent Cabot programs, including Reward Volunteers.
The Community Celebrities will be flown from their hometowns and will board the Celebrity Cruise® ship SUMMIT in Puerto Rico, and make stops in Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas January 11th - 18th, 2014.
For the past four years, in major cities and towns across the United States, the Cabot Community Celebrity Awards have honored the powerful achievements and contributions of select volunteers. Each year, Cabot spotlights those who serve others with little thought of personal recognition, and reward them with a trip of a lifetime. According to its website, the farmer-owners of Cabot offer the Community Celebrity Award "because we want more people to join us in recognizing and applauding the time and talent given to make our communities a better place. We sincerely hope to inspire more people to contribute to their communities, and we want the notion of celebrity to evolve into recognition of selfless volunteerism."
