  • Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) March 27, 2012 - Suicide was the third leading cause of death for young people ages 15 to 24 in 2007. April 1st, Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Stamp Out Suicide and iRun4 A Greater Cause, join forces to host a 5K Race in Wellesley, Massachusetts starting at the Webster Athletic Center on the Babson Campus. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and is open to anyone who purchases a green wristband, or any of the Stamp Out Suicide promotional packages listed on their website.

Teen Suicide is a serious topic for these Babson College students. As part of their FME course, they started a business, called Stamp Out Suicide, which sponsors events, creates products to raise awareness, and provides life saving information on teen suicide prevention.

Founders of Stamp Out Suicide are partnering with a number of mentors. One is Kim O'Brien, from the Samaritans Inc. and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Her involvement is personal, following the death of her 27 year old brother by suicide.

"Although the topic is serious," said Babson College student, Abigail Vargas, CEO of Stamp Out Suicide, "we want participants to understand the overriding tone of this event is positive." It will be a time of celebrating 'Life.' Ms. Vargas wants participants to "enjoy the morning," as they 'walk, for a great cause."
