- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) January 06, 2014 - B1 Free Archiver 0.8.5 version for Android is available. Since the release of its previous major version B1 Free Archiver has been into self-improvement heavily. It was all about analyzing, fixing, testing and implementation. As a result of this hard work B1 Free Archiver now creates encrypted zip files, makes split archives and extracts multiple archives easily. It has also fixed the issues with Gmail app, learned to visualize comments to zip archives and extracts zip archives with non-ASCII symbols in their names.
B1 Free Archiver v0.8.5 made a huge step towards the overall improvement of ZIP format support. First of all, B1 now creates encrypted ZIP archives. Secondly, we've introduced certain restrictions as for what symbols can be used for creating passwords in ZIP archives. This will help avoid troubles with unpacking encrypted ZIP files with any archiving software. At the same time we've strengthened B1 Free Archiver's decompression skills so now it can extract encrypted ZIP archives with passwords which contain some non-ASCII symbols. Finally, B1 Free Archiver now reads ZIP file comments. Sometimes users, who create encrypted ZIP files, leave the password to the archive in comments. But only sometimes.
After installing new B1 Free Archiver users will notice we have added a new "Open as archive" option to the file context menu.If you've got a file with an unfamiliar extension and you don't know with what software you should open it, you can always try opening it "as archive" with B1. The thing is that some files, even if they don't have familiar extension of a compressed file, still can have a structure of an archive (CBR, CBZ files, for example). B1 Free Archiver can easily open files like these, even if such formats are not associated with B1.
B1 Free Archiver v0.8.5 has extended the range of operations with multiple archives. One of the most anticipated features - multi-extraction - is now available. With it users can extract several archives in few clicks. To make it even simpler, we've added a "Multi Select" option to context menu. Don't forget the option is available when you browse files using B1 Free Archiver. So if you have several archives, you "multi-select" them and then hit the "Extract" button. Each archive will extract into a separate folder.
Adam Buyer, project leader at B1 says:
"One of the main challenges in our great struggle for perfection was, obviously, ZIP archive encryption and all other marvellous features that come along. Such major changes are quite noticeable and I hope they will bring more pleasure into your interaction with B1 Free Archiver. So I'd rather take the responsibility of talking about smaller tweaks which being almost invisible, improve the workflow significantly.
Following our users' offers and suggestions, we have resolved the issues with Gmail app. The process of receiving and opening archives through Gmail became clearer and smoother. I also cannot miss the opportunity to boast the new option of creating split archives. From now on it will be easier to manage, upload and send large files, as you can easily divide them into smaller parts with a size of your choice. We have also spent hours fixing bugs, tuning and checking our B1 and with this release it has made another step ahead towards perfection. Thanks for staying with us."
