What's new in version 1.4.69:

Installation process in B1 Free Archiver v1.4.69 has become smoother and clearer. Now before installing B1 Free Archiver, users can choose whether or not to integrate "Extract" and "Create archive" items into Explorer context menu. This adds more flexibility to B1 and allows it to satisfy the needs and preferences of every user. Moreover, in response to B1 users' requests we have made it possible to choose whether to change file associations and open all archives with B1 Free Archiver.
One of the major features in 1.4.69 release is ZIP files encryption. It includes not only a newly introduced feature of protecting ZIP archives with password, but also broad opportunities for managing encrypted ZIP archives. When adding a new file to the archive, which is already encrypted, users are offered 4 options. First, they can choose a new file to be protected with the existing password. Second, they can leave the new file unprotected. In such an archive, which has both password-protected and unprotected files, the icons of protected files have a small image of a key in the corner. The names of unprotected files have red coloring. Thirdly, users can choose to re-encrypt the whole archive with new password. And finally, they are offered to create a new password specifically for the file which is being added.
New B1 version allows preview of files of most common file formats. Preview works for files both inside and outside an archive. The image of the file appears in the right part of the window as soon as you choose a file. The only restriction is encrypted files - to view them you'll have to type in the password first. The feature is available for text files, images, html files and other formats among those listed above.
Adam Buyer, project leader at B1 says:
"The current updated version can be truly called a developer's direct response to the necessities of our users. The 1.4.69 version presents broad customization opportunities for a wider range of users allowing them to manage their content inside the archive according to their specific preferences. We have added support for RAR5 archives to keep up with the changes in WinRAR compression algorithms. As for translation of B1 Free Archiver into other languages, the process is in full swing. Thanks to our translators B1 Free Archiver is now available in 4 more languages.
I should also mention that our innovative method of zip archives encryption presents a real break-through in the sphere of data safety. Having deeply analyzed all strengths and weaknesses in password-protection methods used in most existing file archivers, we have significantly optimized the process of adding files to encrypted archives. B1 Free Archiver allows users to fully control the process of adding files to password-protected archives and thus we can guarantee security of our users' data. We have also worked with password-protection for ZIP archives by introducing clear restrictions as for what kind of symbols can be used in a password. This will help to avoid further problems with unpacking encrypted ZIP files by other software".
