- (1888PressRelease) October 21, 2014 - CHICAGO - InStep Software, a leading provider of real-time performance management and predictive asset analytics software products, recently recognized several customers for outstanding and creative uses of its eDNA and PRiSM software. After an extensive review process, five companies were selected and presented with awards at InStep's 15th Annual Users Conference in Chicago.
The InStep selection committee chose two companies to receive the eDNA Most Creative Custom Application. National Grid was announced as a winner for its custom voltage profiler and geo-mapping application that delivers enhanced awareness of system conditions relating to voltage control. Southern California Edison was also presented with the award for its EzPeak visual basic application that leverages eDNA data to determine and report peak currents on equipment for a given timeframe.
Calpine Corporation received the eDNA Innovation Award for best real-time data management infrastructure. With a broad deployment of more than 140 eDNA servers and 4.5 trillion data elements, Calpine has implemented a comprehensive real-time data management infrastructure that supports advanced operational, trading, asset health and system monitoring.
InStep presented Exelon Generation with the PRiSM Nuclear Catch of the Year. Exelon Generation caught an issue with a steam generator feed pump at an early stage, avoiding downtime and lost revenue. The PRiSM Fossil Catch of the Year Award was presented to Duke Energy for early identification of a turbine shroud issue that led to an anticipated savings of more than $4 million.
"Our Annual Users Conference provides a great opportunity for customers to interact with the InStep team and share ideas with others in their industry," said John Kalanik, president of InStep Software. "The awards ceremony allows us to recognize our customers for innovative use of InStep products and to share some of the best-in-class implementations of our solutions with other eDNA and PRiSM users."
Also at the conference, Kalanik announced that InStep Software entered into an agreement to be acquired by Schneider Electric. Kalanik noted that the same InStep team, expertise, products and technology will remain in place, with an enhanced range of product offerings, support and services from Schneider Electric. InStep's eDNA and PRiSM software integration with Schneider Electric's SmartGlance mobile solution was highlighted.
