The multi-talented Barnhart just received the International Performing Artist's Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for all his work producing and performing comedy shows for the US Military. Don is also a rather accomplished actor, writer and director with numerous television and film credits including NBC, MTV and was nominated for the 2010 "Best Comedian" in Las Vegas and was also the featured comedian on MySpace.

Don is the creator and host of the syndicated TV series, "The Freedom of Speech Comedy Show" which was selected for the 2008 Comedy Festival in Montreal and Don won the 2007 American Idol Underground Comedy Contest as well as being voted "One of the top 100 comedians to see" 3 years in a row" by Entertainment Business Weekly.

Barnhart is also a contributing author on, "I Killed: True Stories of the Road by America's Top Comics" which the N.Y. Times called, "Hilarious" and Don on is also an alumni of The Second City Conservatory program in Los Angeles and he is currently developing, "The De-Evolution of Man" a one man show and sit com based on his successful stand up comedy tours.

Setting out to find himself, he ends up on the streets in Las Vegas and finds his way through stand up comedy.

This is will be the second feature film written, directed and starring nationally acclaimed and award-winning comedian Don Barnhart, Jr. "The story deals with the ongoing homeless problem here in Las Vegas and Freeloader becomes the Robin Hood of the homeless," said Barnhart in a recent interview while on tour headlining for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. He added, "I really like using comedy to deal with current affairs and hard to face issues and I try to do that in my stand up show as well."

Freeloader will be produced under the Don Barnhart Entertainment production company and is truly a family run business with producer and wife of Barnhart, Linda Vu who produced and starred in China Dolls and is the author of Fit, Feminine & Fabulous.
Barnhart's first film, "China Dolls" was an entirely self-funded independent film that deals with the issue of human trafficking and is getting great audience reviews and earning the company money. Don added, "This was an ultra low-budget project that we shot ourselves and put it up on the internet and self distributed. With the power of the online community, we've already made our money back thru downloads and DVD sales."

"With the success of our first project, it was really a no-brainer to produce Freeloader ourselves and take on another film," said Vu. She added, "Working together again is going to be a great experience".

Barnhart has been performing in Las Vegas 6-8 weeks a year since he started doing comedy and he and his wife finally decided to make Vegas home in 2005. Barnhart admits, "I have a certain loyalty to producing and filming in the town that has been so great to me. There is so much talent here in Vegas that you don't need to go to Hollywood or New York."

The husband and wife team of Don Barnhart Entertainment is also producing a yearlong series of comedy tours for the troops by getting sponsors. "It's so important to keep the moral of our troops up and comedy shows really help. We decided to go to corporate funding to keep the tours going and the response has been unbelievable. Even in a tough economy, corporations realize the importance of the men and women serving our country and have gone above to help with these comedy tours".

What Barnhart hopes to gain from entertaining the troops is the chance to meet as many people as possible, make them laugh a little and bring a taste of home to some people who haven't seen home in a while.
