Avalanches An Important Safety Concern According To Snowboard Pro Blake Tholen Clark
Park City, Utah Snowboard Pro donates lessons and is creating safety segments with the cooperation of the United States Forest Service to advocate Backcountry Avalanche Safety.
- Salt Lake City-Ogden, UT (1888PressRelease) January 07, 2016 - Pro Snowboarder Blake Tholen Clark, an AASI Level 3 Certified Instructor and the face of the cloud-based snowboarding school Flowing Freeride, takes an active stance in favor of avalanche safety for backcountry enthusiasts.
"We all love the backcountry for fresh lines and epic untouched powder. But, before ripping it up, people need basics on how to survey terrain for avalanche triggers that put them or those below at risk." advises Clark.
"Avalanches kill more people on National Forests than any other natural hazard." posts the National Avalanche Center. To expand education, Blake Clark along with Flowing Freeride have started filming interviews for Safety Segments with experts at the Utah Avalanche Center
To further help protect people from avalanches, both Clark and the online snowboarding school have donated high-value snowboarding lessons as well as access to online snowboarding courses consisting of over 120+ videos to a fundraiser and screening of the Sundance Film Festival award winning documentary "Meru" at Brewvies in Salt Lake City. Funds raised will help support the Utah Avalanche Center.
