Automotive Sector Sees a Hike in Jobs during September
Continued rises in the number of automotive job vacancies were advertised in September according to recruitment software provider, Recruitive.
- (1888PressRelease) September 26, 2017 - Carla Fern, Operations Director at Recruitive comments: “September saw the highest rise of automotive job vacancies advertised via our recruitment software, beating the previous record, held in December 2016, by an astonishing five percent.”
According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers, car manufacturing in Britain reached a 17-year-high in 2016. A total of 1.72m cars were produced last year, up by 8.5% on 2015 and the highest figure since 1999. The automotive industry account for £15.5 billion of value added to the UK economy each year and was one of the biggest sectors that could have been affected by the referendum decision to opt out of the EU. SMMT say the current rise is a result of investment over many years, rather than a Post-Brexit bounce.
Carla continues: “A huge 15 per cent of UK exports come from the automotive industry; the number of cars exported in 2016 was at an all time record high to which the majority end up in Europe. Whilst the prospect of trade tariff still looms, it will be interesting to see what happens to the number of vacancies within the sector over the last quarter of 2017.”
