Getvendors.com a Social Network for Households allows users in less than 60 seconds, to submit specific work requests. Service requirements are sent to five community-recommended auto mechanics.
(1888PressRelease) September 23, 2006 - Foster City (CA) – A Bay Area start-up, GetVendors.com, targets “lazy shoppers”- those individuals who drive around with the "check engine" light on or a troubling squeak under the hood because they don't have the time to find a good, trust-worthy mechanic. With GetVendors.com, in less than 60 seconds, users can submit specific work requests. This service requirement is then sent to five community-recommended auto mechanics.
This online convenience helps users make smart decisions regarding their household services. GetVendors.com can accommodate any kind of service request. The site offers a clean, intuitive, and easy-to-use format where users can find community recommended service professionals along with tips and advice from the web community of matching interest.
Users can choose from three tabs:
The backbone of the site is “Pro Match” tab. Users can enter information about type of work that they need to be completed along with any custom requirements they might have. With one click of the mouse, a windshield replacement or auto body shop work request will be sent to the five best-matched local auto mechanics in the Get Vendors database. Vendors can be added to the database free by a referral from a community member, or by bidding a monthly amount.
“Organic matches”— the best possible matches in the entire database— fills three of the five available slots for vendors who receive the referral. The remaining two slots are filled with the best possible matches from a subset of the vendor database that bids on a pay-per-lead basis. The user’s service request along with contact info is sent to these five vendors who then can bid on the job. In addition, after matching with a service professional on Getvendors.com, users have a chance to rate their satisfaction with the vendor. Ultimately, this rating influences the weight that vendor will receive in future business matches.
The second tab, the “Organizer”, has a suite of tools, which include checklist tracker that helps organize a to-do list such as car purchase checklist from a private party, bookmarks of information for household projects, and an address book to save trusted contacts.
The third tab is the “Community” section. This feature allows users to ask and answer questions, share recommendations and reviews with other like-minded individuals in their community.
GetVendors.com differentiates from other conventional online referral websites by including community-recommended service vendors in its vendor matches. This variation has led users to count on the site for competitive bids from a variety of qualified local professionals regardless of vendor’s advertising budget. Services like AngiesList or Checkbook require users to pay for subscription before they can use the listings. This is a significant barrier for users seeking only one or two jobs. GetVendors.com connects users with reliable service professionals who are committed to quality service without the hassle of calling and visiting several of them just to get the estimate/availability and hence it is gaining popularity among lazy/busy users.
Founded by UC-Berkeley alumni, GetVendors.com is a start up company based in Foster City, California. GetVendors.com was recently mentioned in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, San Jose Business Journal, Oakland Tribune, and Sacramento Bee. With its exponential rise in user base, especially among busy office staff members and working mothers, GetVendors.com is well positioned to become a driving force in reshaping the way users find service providers. The American Association of Web Masters has also recently awarded a Gold Web Award to GetVendors.com.
