The breakfast hours are still the same and the country breakfast is still the same, but come 11:00 am the salsa and vallenato music starts. From 11:00am to 8:00pm this quite little country breakfast restaurant turns into a Latin spice driven Colombian restaurant. Julio Macia and Rocio Macia opened had their grand opening on December 1st, 2010 with a very warm welcome. It seems like Orange County was waiting for a Colombian restaurant to open up.
The most popular dishes are vandeja paisa, which is a large plate of red beans, ground beef or steak, rice, fried plantain, arepa, a small salad, a large slice of avocado and a fried egg on top. Of course empanadas are very popular as well, they had an order of 15 empanadas that day! This is a must stop if you're in Southern Orange County. The owner Mr. Macia or "Don Julio", which means Mr. Julio in Spanish, says that the amount of orders caught them a little off guard the first week, but they've hired extra staff and that this is a great experience for his 18 year old son Francisco Macia who is the waiter.
Prices range from $1.00 to $10.00 and the portions are big, so bring your appetite.
