Australian Defence Force and Philippine Navy confirmed for MilSatCom Asia Pacific 2017
SMi Reports: Australian Defence Force and Philippine Navy to provide critical satellite communisation programme updates at MilSatCom Asia-Pacific conference this May.
- (1888PressRelease) March 21, 2017 - With the utility of space as a medium for war growing exponentially across the globe, the Asia-Pacific region is an area where rapid development and growth is particularly evident. Furthermore, space security is an increasing concern for this particular region.
Pioneering in the development of military satellite communication, Australian Defence Force and Philippine Navy will speak at SMi's MilSatCom Asia Pacific this May to provide critical programme updates and look at how SatCom is utilised to gain the upper hand in the frontier that is crucial for future combat.
Representing Australian Defence Force, Group Captain Patrick Del Guidice will outline the requirements set by the ADF Defence to provide greater ability and flexibility and to enhance focus on cyber space. The Group Captain will give feedback from the WGS programme and explain its importance for the ADF. He will also address the success of collaboration between ADF and the US as well as highlight opportunities for further collaboration within the Asia-Pacific region.
Captain Marcos Y Imperio, Commander of the Naval Information Communication Technology Center in the Philippine Navy will discuss the current Philippine SatCom programmes and their key uses as well as give an update on the future requirements and developments.
Other key topics that will be discussed include: the management of space debris and the critical importance of space-based assets and satellite capabilities in assisting emergency communications and disaster response in the region.
Key nations presenting at this year conference include leading Asia Pacific militaries as well as the vital perspectives of strategic partners such as the USA and Canada. With military budgets being restricted globally, cooperation and interoperability between nations over key MilSatCom assets is more important than ever to ensure individual nations are able to satisfy national and regional requirements.
The 7th annual MilSatCom Asia-Pacific conference will take place on the 15th-16th May 2017, at the Grand Copthorne Water Front Hotel in Singapore. For those looking to attend, there is S$100 early bird offer available online ending on 31st March 2017.
