Australian Company Bags Rs 14.5 Billion (Us$250 Million) Contract For DLF's Project 'The Camellias' At Gurgaon
Leighton Welspun Contractors, part of the Leighton Asia, India and Offshore Group, has been awarded the main contract to build the super luxury residential development.
- (1888PressRelease) September 13, 2013 - New Delhi - Leighton Welspun Contractors, part of the Leighton Asia, India and Offshore Group, has been awarded the main contract to build the super luxury residential development 'The Camellias' for India's leading developer, DLF at DLF5, Gurgaon, India, valued at 14.5 Billion (US $250 Million).
The Camellias is located on the exclusive Golf Drive at DLF5, Gurgaon and is a much-awaited next generation residential project following the successful delivery of super-luxury residential complexes- The Aralias and The Magnolias. The project is flanked by two signature golf courses - An Arnold Palmer Design Course (adjudged multiple times as the best golf course in Asia) & The Gary Player Course which will debut soon.
The Camellias will occupy a site area of approximately 16.154 acres and a tentative built up area of approx 4.5 million sq.ft (406,000 square meters). The project includes the building of nine tower blocks of between Ground +18 and Ground + 38 floors with three continuous basement levels which together will house 429 apartments, including 14 penthouses.
Construction will involve a combination of RCC framed structure, post-tensioned slabs and external GRC structures. Construction will commence in the third quarter of 2013 and will be completed by third quarter of 2017 (46 months).
Leighton Welspun as the general contractor and DLF have committed to setting the bench mark for labour welfare via a state of art labor camp which will house 3000 workers complete with medical clinic staffed with a full time doctor and ambulance, a canteen providing an estimated 65,000 meals a week at peak, along with a dedicated Strive for L.I.F.E. -Leighton Incident Free Environment-Training Centre to maximize the education of safety work practices for the workers;where we are all aiming for "Zero Harm". The workers on their days off will even enjoy an outdoor cinema and arranged sporting activities.
Both companies have also committed to ensure the latest construction management practices and construction technologies are utilized by harnessing DLF extensive local knowledge and Leighton Welspun vast international experience. The Camellias project is being designed in the latest 5D computer modeling to identify and resolve potential design clashes to enable construction to proceed at record pace via the use of precast, post tensioning and off-site prefabrication of the mechanical services and finishing elements to produce the highest quality expected for The Camellias.
