Austin-San Marcos, TX (1888PressRelease) March 10, 2012 - Local online drum store www.DrumOrDie.com has expanded and is offering its popular flat, portable Traps A400 acoustic drum kit in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Italy. DrumOrDie owner Mark Woodruff said the decision to extend into the overseas market was a natural one. "These drums were born in the United Kingdom from a small company's vision to make a portable drum kit that's strong and reliable, and truly sounds great," Woodruff said. "And, of course, there is a huge market there for drums that have a small footprint and can fit into tight spaces."
The Traps A400 drums were created by Kinks drummer Bob Henrit and engineer Nigel Robinson, who left the shell-less manufacturer Arbiter specifically to create a better shell-less drum kit. While the Traps drums have no shells and would otherwise appear to be a novelty, the drums consistently earn excellent reviews from professional drummers and drum magazines. Modern Drummer Magazine wrote that the drums produce "pleasing sounds that can easily fool you into thinking you're playing a larger set." Many professional drummers also rave about the portable kit not only for its sound, but for its light weight and ability to fold completely flat (you actually can slip the kit under your bed, or tuck it into a small trunk).
The first time Woodruff experienced the portable kit, he was enamored. "I've been drumming on acoustic and electronic drum kits for more than 25 years, and I confess that I fell in love these drums the first time I saw and heard them." Woodruff said the quality and the convenience of the drums convinced him to start carrying the Traps A400 in his online store.
Woodruff also offered a tip to prospective buyers on how to finagle the best price. While every distributor of the Traps A400 is bound not to undersell the lowest allowable price, Woodruff says all it takes is a phone call or an email to get an additional discount out of him. "I want other drummers to experience the Traps A400 kit," he said. "Any drummer who travels to gigs or rehearsals and has to repeatedly pack up and break down a drum kit, they know what a pain that is. But with this kit, you can literally fold it flat and tuck it into a small trunk with one hand. Plus, on stage it's smaller and quieter than a conventional drum kit, so your band members and sound techs love it. All that, and it actually sounds great."
