August To See Inauguration Of A New Akshaya Patra Kitchen In Ahmedabad
On 3rd of August, 2014 Akshaya Patra will be inaugurating its new kitchen in Ahmedabad. The centralised kitchen will be inaugurated by Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel.

Akshaya Patra was invited by Gujarat Government to implement mid day meal programme in the year 2007. The service has grown since, and today it reaches over 400,000 children from 1,653 Government and Government Aided Schools in Vadodara, Surat and the twin cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
Akshaya Patra is a not-for-profit organization implementing mid day meal programme in partnership with the Government of India and several State Governments of India. Akshaya Patra currently serves wholesome meals to over 1.4 million children across 23 locations in 10 states of India covering 10,661 Government and Government aided schools.
The new Ahmedabad mechanized kitchen is state of the art facility spread across two acres and is one of the largest kitchens of Akshaya Patra. The kitchen has the capacity to cook about 200,000 meals within five hours. The kitchen is adorned by two roti making machines with capacity of churning 60,000 rotis/hour each, steam generating boilers with capacity of 2000kgs, seven stage rice cleaning machine, rice and dal silos, effluent treatment plant and reverse osmosis (RO) water plant. This kitchen will cater to over 120,000 children from 666 Government schools in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The kitchen was recently relocated from Gandhinagar to Ahmedabad.
The occasion will also see the principle donor of the facility, The Hans Foundation who is supporting with the CAPEX and sponsoring for equipment and vehicles. The kitchen is co-sponsored by Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) and the land has been donated by Chimanlal Agrawal and family and Nandlal Agrawal and family.
