Audio Video Resources' (AVR) Announces Two New Crestron Certifications
AVR's Manager of Applications and Controls earns the Crestron DigitalMedia™ Certified Engineer (DMC-E) certification and Design Engineer receives DigitalMedia™ Certified Designer (DMC-D) certification.
- Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) December 01, 2010 - AVR's Manager of Applications and Controls, Ira Beyer, earned the Crestron DigitalMedia™ Certified Engineer (DMC-E) certification by successfully completing training and a comprehensive certification exam.
Through attaining this certification, Beyer has proven an understanding of the fundamentals between analog and digital systems and the unique design considerations needed to ensure the reliable operation of such systems. Crestron DigitalMedia™ has been recognized as the leading solution for the digital age, with the ability to distribute all analog and uncompressed HD digital signals as well as manage embedded data. Embedded data refers to content protection, display capability information, and control signals that are now embedded in the digital connection. Only dealers with on-staff DMC-E are qualified to bid on projects designed using the HD Digital Transport and Distribution Systems (HD-DTDS).
AVR emphasizes the continuing education of its employees and applauds Beyer for all of his hard work and achievement in receiving this new certification. Beyer has over 28 years of experience in the audio video and electronics industry. He began his career, after graduating from the DeVry Institute of Technology in 1982, in Electronics Technology. Hired at AVR in 1996, Ira has worked in a variety of areas including systems design, installation, project management, programming, systems repair and system commissioning. Throughout his career he has continued to expand his knowledge by attending numerous factory training classes, and has certifications from AMX, Crestron, Extron Electronics, NEC, Panasonic, Barco, Clarity, Christie, Pioneer, Electrosonics, Sony and more.
Beyer's other certifications include: AMX Certified Expert (ACE), AMX Advanced Axcess Programmer; Certified AMX Designer, Installer and Programmer III; InfoComm Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), Crestron Certified Programmer; and Extron Control Associate (ECA).
AVR Adds other Crestron DMC Certification
AVR's Design Engineer Ryan Teal earned the Crestron DigitalMedia™ Certified Designer (DMC-D) certification by successfully completing a full-day training and certification exam. The DMC-D course teaches the fundamentals skills needed for designing and configuring a Crestron DigitalMedia™ system. The certification is intended for industry professionals who are transitioning to the digital age and need to understand not only the challenges that the digital world presents, but also how the Crestron DigitalMedia™ product family provides solutions to those challenges.
Teal's other certifications include: Biamp Audio Certified, InfoComm Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), Certified POLYCOM Voice over IP, Certified Tandberg Specialist, Extron Service and Support, BSS Audio DSP Certified, AMX Certified Systems Designer (ACE), and Certified POLYCOM Pre-sales Technical Training.

Crestron DigitalMedia™ was developed to meet the challenges of the digital era. Introduced a year ago, Crestron DM is rapidly becoming an industry standard. The DMC-E certification is a rigorous three-day program beginning with the DMC-D class on Day 1. This program details every aspect of system installation and commissioning. DM certified engineers demonstrate proficiency in system setup, diagnostics, testing and reporting. Only a DMC-E is equipped to fully execute and support a DM project. Written into the specification, only dealers with a DMC-E on staff will be qualified to bid on projects designed using the HD-DTDS.
The DMC-D consists of a one-day course that concludes with an exam that must be passed to earn certification and is a prerequisite for DMC-E. A DM Certified Designer understands the fundamental differences between analog and digital systems and the unique design considerations needed to ensure reliable operation. Consultants are widely adopting the HD-DTDS specification and earning DMC-D certification. The DMC-D class is the first day of the DMC-E Certification program. Professionals who intend to achieve DMC-E Certification may continue on for the next two days to complete the program.
