Audemars Piguet releases its newest luxury Openwork Royal Oak 40th Anniversary Watch.
- Monroe, LA (1888PressRelease) November 24, 2011 - Audemars Piguet is happy to deliver its new Openwork Royal Oak 40th Anniversary watch which is set in a 950 platinum case and strictly limited to 40 pieces.
The new model is covered by a glare-proofed sapphire crystal. The same glass is used for its bottom. The timepiece is offset by an octagonal bezel, bolted down to the case with 8 polished hexagonal screws.

The mechanism comprises 247 individual parts, including 36 jewels. It incorporates a bridge with manual finishes, which include polished bevels, satin-brushed edges and a perlage on the recesses.
The new watch provides central hours and minutes as well as a date. Ticking inside the case is a manufactory-made self-winding Calibre 5122 movement. It has a diameter of 28.40mm and is 3.05mm thick.
The functions are presented on an open-worked slate-grey dial. It is equipped with white gold applied hour-markers and Royal Oak hands, inlaid with luminescent compound. The date aperture at 3 o'clock is rendered in metallic sapphire with a vertically drawn pattern.

Integrated within the movement is also a 22K gold monobloc oscillating weight, which reveals a raised inscription "AP Royal Oak 1972-2012" and a "tapiserie" motif on its external segment. It runs at the rate of 19,800 vibrations per hour and provides a 40-hour power reserve.
The new Audemars Piguet Openwork Royal Oak 40th Anniversary watch is mounted on a 950 platinum bracelet, closed with an AP folding clasp. The water-resistance of the case is assured down to 50 meters.
