Auburn University's Fellowship of Christian Athletes to Host Celebrity Golf Tournament on April 17
Tourney benefiting FCA seeks players and sponsors for celebrity-filled event.
- Auburn-Opelika, AL (1888PressRelease) March 29, 2015 - Golfers have an opportunity to play alongside some Auburn University (AU) living legends at the school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) 2015 Golf Tournament presented by Beasley Allen Law firm. Held at the Auburn University Golf Club (1650 Yarbrough Farms Blvd.) on Friday, April 17, the event will benefit the university's FCA program, a 501c3, non-profit organization dedicated to seeing the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.
Among the numerous celebrities confirmed for the tournament include former Auburn football legends Jason Campbell, Carnell "Cadillac" Williams, Chris Davis, Ronnie Brown, Marcus McNeill, Carlos Rogers, Will Herring, Quentin Groves, Jermaine Whitehead, Josh Harris and Ben Leard, among many others. Additional celebrities are expected to be announced soon.
AU football team chaplain and Director of AU FCA Chette Williams said, "Having been around the athletic program at Auburn for more than 15 years, I fully understand and appreciate the ability of athletes to positively influence and impact society. This special day will allow us to raise the necessary funds to create positive programming with these student athletes that impact so many lives in the community."
The day's events of April 17 include a silent auction with autographed memorabilia and other unique experiences, as well as:
• 6:30am - Enjoy a prayer breakfast with a short devotional along with your fellow players, as you register for the day and warm up your swing.
• 8:30am - Tee-off for an amazing round of golf with a tremendous group of individuals all seeking to empower AU FCA.
• 1:00pm - Luncheon to celebrate the winners, spend time with the celebrities and talk about the following day's A-Day game.
Founded in 1954, FCA preaches the "Four C's" of ministry:
• Coaches Ministry - Redeem sports through transformed coaches.
• Campus Ministry - Initiated and led by student-athletes and coaches on high school and college campuses.
• Camp Ministry - Provide "inspiration and perspiration" for coaches and athletes to reach their potential on and off the field.
• Community Ministry - See the community reach for Jesus Christ through adult involvement.
Entry fee is $1,000 for individual players and sponsorships are available ranging from $750 to $7,500. Golf teams will have an opportunity to select the celebrity for their group.
