Atticus Ross Brings NIN Back in New TRIPLE 9 Soundtrack - Released Today

(1888PressRelease) February 27, 2016 - Academy Award-winning composer Atticus Ross (Gone Girl, Love & Mercy, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Social Network) scores Triple 9, a crime thriller directed by John Hillcoat (Lawless, The Road, The Proposition). Co-written with Claudia Sarne & Leopold Ross (The Book of Eli, Broken City) and Bobby Krlic (aka The Haxan Cloak), Triple 9 is produced by Open Road Films starring Kate Winslet, Woody Harrelson, Aaron Paul, Norman Reedus, Anthony Mackie, Casey Affleck, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The film follows a gang of criminals and corrupt cops who plan the murder of a police officer in order to pull of their biggest heist. A special remix by Atticus Ross of Cypress Hill's classic ode to police corruption and hit song 'Pigs' is included on the soundtrack and can be heard in the film's Red Band trailer which is trending. Triple 9 opens in theaters today, February 26th 2016 and soundtrack available digitally from BFD / Sony RED Distribution and Atlantic Screen Music / Filmtrax.

According to Ross, the score was a departure from a traditional soundtrack, "John was very involved with the musical composition, he had a particular vision for the music on this movie which was raw sounding electronics accompanied by, bizarrely, a saxophone. John wanted to avoid 'sophistication' and capture the excitement of hands-on performances with noisy, broken machines."
Atticus Ross has successfully transitioned from songwriter and musician to film composer. In 2010, Ross along with Nine Inch Nails founding member Trent Reznor won the Oscar for Best Score for the film The Social Network. Other collaborations with Reznor include two films (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl), five Nine Inch Nails albums, the band 'How to Destroy Angels', and work with a variety of other artists.
