ATEC Joins Elite Training Centers with Award of Accreditation for Hazardous Area Equipment Training
The providers of specialist safety training to the energy and other industries have achieved final certification as a CompEx training center. This accreditation makes ATEC one of only two centers in the USA able to deliver the most widely-recognized training and assessment programs for safe working practices in hazardous areas.
- (1888PressRelease) February 02, 2011 - Houston-based ATEC Training & Certification Services has achieved a major safety training milestone.
Jointly developed by the Engineering Equipment and Materials Users' Association (EEMUA) and JTL Training in the UK, CompEX is a comprehensive training course for electrical personnel who must select, install, and maintain electrical equipment in areas with potentially explosive atmospheres.
Wayne Mayo, ATEC's senior instructor and competence assessor, said: "This certification, combined with our hands-on training facilities, allows us to provide a comprehensive, accredited, industry-recognised training opportunity to personnel working in very dangerous areas.
"Education and the competence of personnel who are responsible for hazardous areas should be a priority for all companies, since incorrect equipment or installation can potentially cause catastrophic events. We have established a first-rate training center to help companies ensure that their personnel are adequately knowledgeable about the safest possible working practices in these areas."
The CompEx-accredited center underpins ATEC's commitment to harnessing industry training standards.
ATEC managing director Tommy Sutherland said: "Advances in new technology and working practices continue to see industries rapidly evolve on both a regional and global scale. It is therefore vital to ensure that safe working environments, procedures and behaviour are developed in accordance with this progression.
"ATEC's investment in its 12-bay training center, complete with the CompEx endorsement, addresses both the integrity and wide-ranging needs of industry safety. It is a globally-recognised facility which provides world-class training and reinforces ATEC's aim to continually educate industries about the ever-changing safety issues. The fact the center is only the second of its kind in the USA - and one of only 19 in the world - demonstrates this."
ATEC offers a range of training programs designed to ensure that all levels of personnel who may be involved in designing, constructing, installing or maintaining equipment for use in hazardous areas have the proper knowledge to perform their jobs not only within regulatory requirements, but as safely as possible. Training courses can be conducted in several relevant standards and industry practices, including ATEX, IECEx, and NEC.
