Astech Projects Employee In Hunt For The Nation's Best Amateur Cook
Astech employee competes for MasterChef 2014 title.
- (1888PressRelease) April 17, 2014 - Runcorn based robotics & automation supplier, Astech Projects, are excited to be supporting their very own Sales Engineer, Luke Owen who has won a place on MasterChef 2014, the BBC's competitive reality cooking show where contestants compete for the coveted Masterchef title.
The show now in its tenth series, hosted by John Torode and Gregg Wallace, hunts for the nation's best amateur cooks. This series sees a few changes to keep ardent fans sated. Contestants will be given a choice of one sweet or one savoury sealed box to cook from, in a twist on the invention test. Without knowing what is inside the box, the amateur cooks will have an hour to create a dish to satisfy the judges. Judge John Torode will also take on the sealed box challenge, showing viewers what dish he would cook.
Marking the show's tenth anniversary, winners and finalists from the past ten years will also be returning to sample the contestants' food and give their verdict, giving viewers a chance to catch up on what the MasterChef graduates are doing now.
Sixty amateur cooks, including Luke, will compete for the MasterChef title in 10 heat shows before the quarter finalists are chosen. After five weeks of heats, the 60 hopefuls will then be whittled down to just a handful of stand-out amateur chefs.
They will then face the knockout week, where the remaining cooks are thrown together for the first time and sent out to work in a professional kitchen to compete against one another over the final two weeks to select a winner.
Luke explained he was thrilled when he had the call confirming his place on the show 'being on MasterChef has been a great experience, I love trialling new dishes and adding my own unique twists. I entered the competition after encouragement from my family and friends. I've always had a passion for food and being highly competitive it seemed like the ideal show for me"
The show airs on Wednesday 16 April 2014 and will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
