She was cast as the leading lady and filming began within weeks of a personal tragedy for Ashe. She had just lost her father and threw herself into acting to help her cope. Ashe is a natural behind the camera with a glowing personality and guaranteed to make anyone laugh. What makes it so easy for Ashe to bring her characters to life once the camera starts rolling is that it is easy for her to put herself in other people's shoes.

In the interview, Ashe stated that she was given her screen name by Leigh Scott and Eliza Swenson.
Talking about Harlan Kentucky where her roots are, she said that it is a small community where everyone knows everyone, and everyone is like family. It is a very welcoming place.
Regarding he entry into the world of acting, Ashe said that she and her daughter responded to a casting call for an Indie movie in her hometown to which she was eventually selected.
