Appropriate Use Of Newly Allotted School Sport Fund To Raise Standards In Schools
The Primary Schools of UK should spend the newly allotted Sport Fund appropriately on the most useful kit which will keep our children physically fit as well as they encouraging them to enjoy learning. Details about the toolkit can be found here http://movbanduk.co.uk/school_web/how_it_works.php.
- (1888PressRelease) September 23, 2013 - The UK government has announced new funding for school sport and PE worth £150m a year for the next two years. This ring-fenced money of the fund will be directly given to primary schools in England. Schools will be able to pay for extra coaching sessions to improve the quality of sports and PE provision. This will enhance a greater role for sporting and voluntary organizations, including sport's National Governing Bodies (NGBs), who will increase the specialist coaching and skills development on offer for primary schools. This was published in the following site of the government https://www.gov.uk/government/news/olympic-legacy-boost-150-million-for-primary-school-sport-in-england. In the mean time MOVband UK has introduced the MOVband Kit that offers teachers solutions to getting children active and learning.
This robust, and inexpensive wrist-worn accelerometer which tracks the daily activity and the equivalent of total miles moved while displaying the time on it, is the centrepiece of MOVband UK's MOVchallenge. The aim is to inspire and encourage pupils to achieve their PERSONAL BEST. This rewarding initiative focuses on fun, education and movement! The MOVchallenge can be a year long program that encourages children to exercise, set their own targets and cover a specified amount of miles over a specified period of time. It allows schools to track the movement of their children and is an ideal way to raise achievement, increase motivation for sports. Use of this resource will create a culture in our schools that encourages all children to be active and enjoy the sports and learning.
On the very first day at North London - Lea Valley High School Kevin Matthew a teacher and Head of PE, walked into his new school to be shocked to see the number of overweight children there were throughout the corridors. He found that children were not interested in taking part in PE. He started to think how the PE classes can be made more interesting to the children, in which they will be encouraged to join in and enjoy their lessons. When Kevin learned about the success of MOVband and MOVchallenge in the United States, he knew it was the perfect solution to the problems he was seeing in the UK..
The MOVchallenge KIT was developed with the assignment to reach out to the children of the schools and help them to access their educational curriculum at the same time developing their levels of physical activity. This toolkit is full of resources for teachers and rewards for the children.
The online resource comes with a series of Certificates that teachers can download when their pupils achieve their mileage. The first challenge set is the 100mile MOVchallenge. Children are encouraged to reach this distance in the quickest time to receive their certificate. Following this there are certificates every 50 miles until they reach the goal of becoming the Ultimate MOVER at 500 miles.
The MOVchallenge is very rewarding which easily fits into schools daily routine. Kevin Matthew of MOVband UK states "All Primary Schools should invest in the MOVchallenge for their children. The difference active learning has on children definitely impacts on whole school learning and I thoroughly belief that the fitter the child the better the learner.
