- (1888PressRelease) February 07, 2014 - Luiz Alberto Verri, Former Presidente Bernardes Refinery General Manager from Verri Veritatis, Senior Consultant from Petrobras who is a part of the expert speakers panel at the Plant Reliability & Major Maintenance Forum (03 - 04 December 2013,Sheraton, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) expressed his views on how shutdowns can be improved in plants and refineries and what are the main challenges faced.
"Shutdowns can be improved first of all by getting all the stakeholders involved (Production, Maintenance, Engineering, even refinery guards, HSE, etc). This is reached with a strong program of communication and also with a strong attitude of leadership. A good manner to involve operations, engineering, procurement, maintenance, HSE people is to create committees to begin with the preparations more than one year ahead, with the participation of this entire group of people. It's to lead the people and the Scope Management that are the more important challenges on a Plant shutdown, in my opinion."
At the Plant Reliability & Major Maintenance Forum, Luiz Alberto Verri will elaborate on Reliability on Process Plants. To explain his topic further he stated, " To match reliability objectives, the only way is to avoid corrective works. How to avoid corrective works? Following are the steps:
Strong leadership accompanied with professional relationship with operation people helps in removing bad actors through a system of root causes analysis. One needs to bear a few important details in mind for a successful maintenance in a process plant are equipments shuld be well operated, first attack for incipient defects in order to avoid failures and responsibility of maintenance costs should be shared by Operations & Maintenance."
This two day forum will also see participation from Braskem, Votorantim Cimentos, Vale Fertilizers, Petrobras, Lyondell Basell, General Motors and more. Centred on the theme Keeping Things Running, the forum will bring an industry perspective on how to convert new maintenance strategies into a working model at any continuous process plant.
