Applied Arts Magazine Showcases Kim Pickett's Successful "Rise to the Top"
Canada's esteemed visual communications magazine features Kim Pickett as one of Sheridan College's successful alumni.
- (1888PressRelease) October 04, 2011 - Vancouver, BC, Canada - The September issue of Applied Arts Magazine highlights many of Sheridan College's successful alumni - and Kim Pickett, Principal / Creative Director of KIMBO Design Inc., has graced its pages. An ambitious entrepreneur and visionary director, Kim is a testament to the caliber of the Sheridan Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design.
Kim graduated in 2001 with honours from the York/Sheridan design program. In under a year, she founded Vancouver branding and design firm KIMBO Design. Today, KIMBO Design has a well-earned reputation for design excellence. Kim's reputation for quality work and superior client relations has cemented her company as an award-winning industry leader. In this issue of Applied Arts, Kim discusses inspirational faculty mentors and offers her best advice for design students.
"Kim is a great example of a graduate who emerged from our program with the best combination of what we offer," says Bill Ross, Professor and Program Coordinator of the York/Sheridan Bachelor of Design program. "She understood that it takes more than creativity and great design skills to launch a successful design business. She took the lessons about business to heart. We're very proud of grads like Kim who continue to rise to the top of the industry."
Kim's professional accomplishments are abundant. Her creative direction has been recognized by the Summit Creative Awards, The MEA Summit Awards, The Creative Awards, the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC), FlashinTO and FlashGoddess.com. She has also been interviewed on "Career Moves," a program that highlights exciting entrepreneurs in Canada. Most recently, Kim was profiled on the York/Sheridan alumni website, and she was nominated for the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards.
Kim also distinguishes herself as a sustainability-focused leader. Her implementation of green printing and sustainable design, as well as her work on the GDC's Sustainability Committee, are a testament to her vision for economic, social and environmental sustainability.
