"At 37, Ryan's legal and charitable accomplishments rival those of Texas' best attorneys of any vintage," says Deborah Hankinson, firm founder and former Supreme Court of Texas justice. "I have no doubt that Ryan is one of the best lawyers in Texas, and I'm glad to see that Texas Lawyer has recognized his impressive work."
A former Texas Assistant Solicitor General, Mr. Clinton has successfully handled seven cases in the Supreme Court of Texas as lead counsel and has already presented more than 20 appellate oral arguments, four in the Texas Supreme Court alone. Over the last few years, Mr. Clinton has developed a niche practice handling appeals in groundbreaking oil-and-gas litigation including a gas royalties dispute that will define Texas royalty obligations for generations to come. He has represented clients before the Supreme Court of Texas, the Fifth Circuit, the majority of Texas intermediate appellate courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Earlier this year, Mr. Clinton earned his ninth selection to the Texas Rising Stars list published in Texas Monthly, which similarly recognizes the top lawyers in Texas under 40. He was also a finalist for Austin Under 40's young professional of the year award in 2010. He is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and a graduate of Duke University and the University of Virginia School of Law.
Outside of work, Mr. Clinton is a nationally recognized and acclaimed charitable leader. In 2005, he founded a non-profit organization aimed at ending the unnecessary euthanasia of sheltered animals in Austin, and in 2011, Austin became the largest city in the nation to achieve "No Kill" status at its municipal pound. Mr. Clinton is a frequent national speaker regarding animal welfare policy. In 2009, he was named one of the top six animal welfare leaders in America by the California-based No Kill Advocacy Center.
