Apollonia Beach Resort & Spa, host of the Greek Paralympics team
The city of Heraklion honored the athletes of the Greek National Paralympics Team who excelled at the Rio Paraloympic Games 2016. Apollonia Beach Resort & Spa hosted them and organized their entertainment and Aegean Airlines arranged their flights.
- (1888PressRelease) October 26, 2016 - A ceremony for the presentation of the commemorative plaques, honoring the representatives of the Greek Paralympic movement, was held on Saturday evening -October 22nd 2016- at Apollonia Hotel, which was hosting the athletes and their escorts.
From the Greek Paralympic team, those who attended included: Manolis Stefanoudakis, gold Paralympian in Javelin Men's F54; Thanasis Konstantinidis, Paralympic gold in athletics in Shot Put Men's F32 and Silver in Corinna Men F32; Se John Fernandez, Paralympic Gold in athletics in Shot Put Men's F53; Paul Mamalos, gold Paralympic weightlifting bench in 107kg; Demosthenes Michalentzakis, gold Paralympic Swimming in the Men 100m Butterfly S9; Anna Deda, bronze Paralympic Boccia in the Couples of BC3; Christina Deda, escort gymnast of the athlete Anna Deda; Adamantia Chalkiadaki, Paralympic in cycling; Argiro Milakis, Paralympic in cycling - pilot gymnast of athlete Adamantia Chalkiadaki; George Kapellakis, Paralympic in Swimming; Constantine Troulinos, pilot in cycling and George Varverakis, national coach of cycling.
MEP Mr Manolis Kefalogiannis and the Vice Governor of Crete, Mr Euripides Koukiadakis, were also in attendance at the event, which included members of the council of the Municipality of Heraklion and the manager of Aegean Airlines for the area of Southern Greece, Mr. Paris Epitropakis.
Memorable moments of the night included the songs and dances that the Paralympians partook in. Throughout the evening, the guests enjoyed a menu based on the traditional Cretan cuisine.
