APLIX fasteners get to grips with inter-mold(R) technology
APLIX, a specialist in self-gripping fasteners, has developed the inter-moldŽ technology, making it possible to offer a new generation of fasteners for the hook-and-loop industry. Inter-moldŽ fastening technology allows hooks to be injection-moulded directly into plastic parts, thereby enabling users to eliminate the need for adhesives and ultrasonic welding.
- (1888PressRelease) July 09, 2011 - The inter-moldŽ technology developed by APLIX is implemented with the use of tooling inserts that create small hooks. The hooks are moulded during a standard injection cycle (one-shot); the process is environmentally friendly, as it reduces the need for glue and adhesives.
The inter-moldŽ hook shapes are compatible with a wide range of existing loop materials such as woven, non-woven or knitted material. The inter-moldŽ hook process relies on inserts that are either fixed or retractable, and can be used with a variety of materials, including polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE), polyamide (PA6, PA6.6), polyacetal (POM), and thermoplastic elastomers.
Inter-moldŽ technology has manifold applications: it is used across the medical, automotive and cleaning-products sectors.
In the automotive field, APLIX has designed fastening systems for automotive interiors and cargo management. Inter-moldŽ technology has been particularly beneficial when used in overhead systems.
In the cleaning industry, the use of self-gripping fasteners makes it easier to affix cloth or wipes. The inter-moldŽ hooks have the same properties as plastic and are unaffected by humidity, the use of detergents and sterilization. Inter-moldŽ also offers flexibility with regard to design, for the consumer as well as the professional cleaning market.
APLIX offers a wide range of inter-moldŽ fasteners that are suited to many applications in high-performance fastening systems. Inter-moldŽ fasteners provide an alternative if the plastic used for a product does not permit the direct injection of hooks into the material. APLIX can tailor the design and the product to the individual needs of its customers: parts can be made to order for specific applications
