Apex Rehabilitation and Care Center Commemorates Child Health Day
Apex, a premier rehabilitation and health center, supports Child Health Day by raising awareness of issues affecting the health of today's youth.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2013 - Apex Rehab and Care Center will be commemorating Child Health Day on October 7, 2013. In 1928, President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed this day to be a national day of observance, meant to increase public awareness of child health issues.
Every year, organizations interested in childhood wellness are urged to join together in honor of Child Health Day to help increase awareness of child health issues such as prenatal care, adolescent health, injury prevention, immunizations, healthy eating and healthy lifestyle.
American healthcare organizations hold events this day to provide communities with necessary resources to improve childhood well being. The Health Resources and Services Administration offers a wide array of information for parents and schools about many issues, including child obesity prevention and healthy lifestyle choices. Today, according to the Center for Disease Control, approximately one third of American children and teenagers are overweight or obese. This is a cause for concern, as that rate is now nearly triple the rate in 1963 and obesity in childhood increases the likelihood of health problems later in life.
"Even though our clients aren't children, we at Apex Rehab are proud to spread awareness of Child Health Day. The health of all of our citizens is very important, and children are no different. The choices that they make will affect them for the rest of their lives, so it is important that parents, schools, and children are properly informed," remarked Ari Silberstein, administrator at Apex Rehab and Care Center.
