Apeejay School of Management Organizes conference on Innovative Financial Practices and Developments
Apeejay School of Management, New Delhi organized a Conference on Innovative Financial Practices and Developments on 9th November, 2011. The theme of the conference was Dynamism in Finance.
- (1888PressRelease) November 16, 2011 - New Delhi: Dr Alok Saklani, Director, Apeejay School of Management welcomed the guests and spoke about the necessity of financial innovations for development of society. He made observations about Islamic banking, derivative and other financial innovations. Prof Ashok Ogra, Director, Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, spoke about economic crisis, G-20 summit, and bailout package for Greece, which have posed critical challenges for the financial leaders of the world.
Inaugurating the conference, Mr. Subhash Lakhotia, reputed tax consultant, threw light on various nuances of tax related innovations like gifts, real estate and investments. In the second inaugural lecture, Professor Nand Dhameja narrated the latest innovations in finance and financial markets and particularly highlighted the risk management aspects which are going to attract critical attention in recent times.
The conference provided a forum for dissemination of research findings, practices and techniques in Finance among academicians and practitioners through publication of quality papers in the Conference Proceedings bearing an International Standard Book Number (ISBN). The conference aimed at providing a platform to bring together academicians and practitioners with research interests in the field of finance and enable them to exchange ideas on the new developments in financial practices and techniques.
Delivering the first plenary lecture, Professor Madhu Vij, dealt with various recent innovations in banking which included capital adequacy, asset liability management and corporate governance. It was followed by the next plenary session by Dr. G R Nagendran, CFO, ONGC Tripura Power Company Ltd., who gave a presentation on asset liability management in the context of State Financial Corporations.
The inaugural session was concluded with the unveiling of the CD containing conference papers. After the inaugural session the delegates presented their papers on various aspects of finance like credit risk, cyclical stocks, performance of mutual funds, hedge funds, microfinance, etc.
