Antiques Roadshow Discovers Iconic Joseff of Hollywood Jewelry
Joseff of Hollywood Jewelry will be featured in the Antiques Roadshow episode airing Monday, May 5th on your local PBS channel.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) May 01, 2014 - The Antiques Roadshow team, including host Mark L. Walberg and appraiser Rosie "Rhinestone Rosie" Sayyah, videotaped a segment at Joseff of Hollywood to highlight key pieces of costume jewelry that are integral to the movie capital's glamorous history.
Two pieces from the extensive jewelry collection will be highlighted in the segment: a necklace worn by Vivien Leigh in "Gone With the Wind" and earrings worn by Grace Kelly in "High Society".
"Appraisal value of the jewelry is difficult." says Tina Joseff, general manager of the family operated business. "Although all the jewelry are quality pieces, the value is based more on their association with the stars and the famous movies they starred in than the actual value of the metals and stones."
Founded in 1928, Joseff of Hollywood became famous for providing historically accurate and beautiful jewelry using specific metals that photographed well during the early days of harsh lights and limited optic lenses.
In the 40's and 50's Joseff also launched a retail line of jewelry based on famous pieces from the movies including "Cleopatra", "Some Like It Hot" and "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". Stylistic pieces designed specifically for retail department store sales captured the current fashions and are still in great demand today by collectors around the world.
The Joseff of Hollywood episode is scheduled to air May 5th on your local PBS listings. To see more Joseff jewelry please visit the website at JoseffJewelry.com or check out the Joseff of Hollywood Facebook page.
