Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2015 - The Terra Ceia Island Village Improvement Association (VIA) is hosting the 16th annual "Original" Mullet Smoke-Off on Saturday, November 14th, 2015 from 10am-6pm at Seabreeze Park on Terra Ceia Island. The public is invited to join in the festivities, enjoy live music, participate in the infamous Mullet Toss and other games, including competing to win the honor of making the "Best Smoked Mullet."

The beautiful Terra Ceia Island has long been known for its rich history, natural beauty, and of course, its annual mullet smoke-off. This long-running festival offers the opportunity to compete in making the best smoked mullet. This year's event will also include the popular Terra Ceia Arts and Crafts Festival with 15-20 local artists and craft purveyors. In addition to the abundance of smoked mullet available for tasting, the Terra Ceia VIA will be offering smoked mullet dinners, mullet cakes, mullet spread, cold beer and wine, homemade BBQ pork, hot dogs, freshly baked desserts and so much more.

Located in Seabreeze Park, which has an amazing waterfront view, the Terra Ceia Mullet Smoke-Off not only features the best smoked mullet in Florida, but guests can also participate in the infamous Mullet Toss, a game in which participants take turns tossing mullet 20 yards towards different targets - including a toilet bowl. The greatest part of this event is the fact that half of the proceeds from the mullet toss go to the Terra Ceia VIA, with the winner of the competition receiving the other half.

"The arts community is ever-growing, and this festival is a great way to gain inspiration from the beauty of Terra Ceia Island and transmit that into art, all while raising awareness of the community and its needs. Attendees of all ages are welcome to participate in the festivities, and can test their skills in a cast net throwing contest while listening to live music performances by Georgia and Mike, a band originating from Sarasota, FL that has traveled to over 70 countries throughout their musical career. Admission to the event is free, with event proceeds going to benefit the efforts to maintain the historic meeting hall that is on the National Registry of Historic Buildings.
