Annual Terra CEIA Island Mullet Smoke-off
The Terra Ceia Island Village Improvement Association (VIA) is hosting their annual "Original" Mullet Smoke-Off on Saturday, November 9th, 2013 from 11am - 6pm at Seabreeze Park on Terra Ceia Island. All are invited to join in the festivities, enjoy live music, participate in the infamous Mullet Toss and other games as contestants compete to win the honor of making the "Best Smoked Mullet."

Terra Ceia Island is known for its rich history, natural beauty, and its annual mullet smoke-off. This long-running festival offers the opportunity to compete in making the best smoked mullet. Second and third place will also be awarded in the competition, with each winner receiving a plaque and bragging rights. The Terra Ceia VIA will be offering smoked mullet dinners, mullet cakes, homemade BBQ pork, hot dogs, beer, refreshments, freshly baked desserts and more.
Located in the beautiful waterfront Seabreeze Park, the Terra Ceia Mullet Smoke-Off doesn't only feature the best smoked mullet in Florida - guests can also take part in the infamous Mullet Toss, in which participants take turns tossing mullet 20 yards towards targets including a toilet bowl. Half of the proceeds from the mullet toss go to the Terra Ceia VIA, with the winner of the competition receiving the other half.
"The Mullet Smoke-Off is one of our most loved events, and it's not hard to see why," said Joe Dougherty, President of the Terra Ceia VIA. "It's a great way to show off the beautiful place we live and to raise awareness about the needs of our historical community, all while having a good time. All ages are welcome - it's going to be great fun for families, friends, and anyone who loves a good smoked mullet!"
Attendees will enjoy live music performances by Soul Purpose, a roots rock and reggae band originating from Sarasota, FL. Admission is free for all attendees, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Almost Home Dog Rescue, based on Terra Ceia Island, and efforts to maintain the historic meeting hall that is on the National Registry of Historic Buildings.
