Karen McMahon, who was born and raised in Abbs Valley, VA and attended Pocahontas High School in Pocahontas, VA, now a resident of Warrenton, VA, is announcing the release of several of her works. Karen, a consultant who does writing and editing, has published the following:
1. I Saw a White Horse Today - A beautiful children's book about a child who imagines that she sees a white horse with wings who rides off in the sky with a beautiful woman. The book is illustrated by well-known equine artist Loretta Dovell Bailey and photographer Janet Black. Available at -

2. It's A Matter of Faith-Or Is It? - This book was written following the illness and death of the author's brother, and is a frank discussion of faith and how some have it and others don't. Stories of her upbringing in Virginia's coal country are included to illustrate how her idea of faith may have influenced her beliefs. 3. Back There-A Female Assassin Proves You Can't Go Home Again - This full-length novel is about a young girl, abused both physically and mentally, who meets a young boy from the same background and he becomes her life line and then her soul mate. His family is ingrained in the field of paid assassins, and he eventually pulls her into his world. Her goal is to make enough money to escape, with the caveat that she will someday go "back there" and exact revenge on all of those who created the monster she became. She succeeds in going back, but revenge doesn't turn out exactly the way she had always imagined it. Available at the amazon url listed in item #1, ebook only.
4. The Tunnel - Karen's personal favorite, this novel is about a man who spends his entire life with an irrational fear of tunnels and has no idea why. He is convinced that he is going insane and tries to seek help, but there is no help for him. On this last tunnel ride, he learns that his fear of tunnels wasn't that irrational after all. 5. Dancing with the Stars - This is the story of a woman who only comes out of her house at night, dressed in a white dress and ballerina slippers, and dances with the stars. The townspeople say she's crazy and warn their kids to stay away from her, but none of them know the great deeds she does behind her closed doors-and she wants it kept that way. Queen Lelah - A story based on a daughter's dream, Princess Lelah becomes queen and must save her peasant village from burning. Co-authored with Tony Bertot, to be released soon.
The Frozen Leaf - A young child ventures out onto a frozen lake to retrieve a leaf she sees there, frozen just under a layer of ice, and falls through the ice and is believed to have drowned. But her life has just begun. Release date approximately 1-30-12.
